ServicesOur goal at Pediatric & Adolescent Psychiatry Associates is to provide you with comprehensive and coordinated services, with the highest degree of quality and professionalism, for your child or adolescent struggling with emotional, behavioral, social or academic difficulties, and to help you to be more effective in helping your child or adolescent, as well. ADHD Center of Northern New Jersey focuses primarily on providing you with the same comprehensive and coordinated services for your child or adolescent, and for your family, as well as for adults, with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in particular. Whether your concerns are behavioral, emotional or academic, we will provide you with the help you need all at Pediatric & Adolescent Psychiatry Associates and ADHD Center of Northern New Jersey. Evaluations If you are looking for an evaluation for your child, we would have you meet with our child & adolescent psychiatrist, who will first talk with you to gain a full understanding of your concerns regarding your child. The child psychiatrist will then perform an evaluation of your child, then will discuss with you the outcome of that evaluation, including diagnostic impressions, and will provide you with recommendations for helping your child. A treatment plan will be created, with your input. If your child is experiencing behavioral or emotional problems, further evaluation, which could include lab tests, questionnaires sent to your child’s teachers, and consultation with your child’s pediatrician or therapist, may be indicated. If your child or adolescent is experiencing academic difficulties, an educational evaluation and/or cognitive testing of your child’s intellectual ability and cognitive functioning, may be suggested. If your child has already undergone evaluation, and you are seeking treatment, not additional testing, we will refer you to one of our specially trained therapists. If you are an adult looking for evaluation, our adult psychiatrist will meet with you to assess your experiences in the workplace and in the meaningful relationships in your life, and will explore any difficulties you have with time management and organization. A review of childhood experiences, including academic performance, will also be included. Therapy Treatments available include:
Social Skills Groups focus on social interaction, self-esteem and anger management, providing tools for more rewarding social experiences. The Parent Support Group is for you, the parents. This group meets concurrently with the social skills group, and is led by one of our professional staff, with periodic visits by our medical director for an evening of questions and answers. The Adolescent Depression/Bipolar Disorder Support Group focuses on an understanding of these conditions and their treatment, helping your adolescent to more successfully cope with mood swings and feelings in general and to deal with peer pressure and relationships with family and friends. It also offers the opportunity for participants to meet other adolescents struggling with similar issues. The Adult ADHD Group focuses on the particular struggles of adults with ADHD including ADHD in the workplace and ADHD in the marriage, or in relationships, in general. In addition to all the above services, our ADHD, Mood & Behavior Center provides additional services for children and adolescents with mood, behavior and social problems, as well as learning disorders, autism and Asperger's disorders, and Eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorders. |
